The Itchy Feeling of Expectations
Ascended Master Buddha
Expectations are like a bug or a virus. It gets under our skins and it causes us to scratch. It leaves an itch that can't be satisfied.
Expectations cause us to suffer by playing tricks upon our brain.
Let's take an example of a typical expectation.
A man has an expectation of receiving a certain amount cash for selling a used vehicle.
What he eventually sells the vehicle for, however, is several hundred dollars below his expectations.
This makes the man mad.
Meanwhile, a second man sells an identical car for an identical price and he is happy with the transaction. This other man had no expectations.
He was happy with whatever amount he was to receive.
The first man was so mad he kicked the car in the tire and hurt his foot.
The second man was so happy, because of no expectations, he decided to treat himself to something fun. He went to join a ballroom dancing class and found there the love of his life.
The first man, now with a sore foot, had mentally spent the expected amount and now must go through the sad task of deciding what to delete from his list.
What is the difference between these two men?
What is the practical advice for you today?
Live life with no expectations - unless you desire a sore foot and a sad afternoon.
Message from Ascended Master Buddha.
Let go of all Attachments to Loved Ones and they shall Love you more than ever.
I am who is known as the Buddha. I lived many years ago. However, I try to stay current with the goings on with our beautiful home. I can tell you with certainty that humanity still grapples with the same issues that plagued us 2400 years ago. I spent my life, after liberation, with helping others let go attachments because I realized that attachments are what cause the most pain, suffering and anxiety in our lives.
Many are now asking, "What is an attachment?" An attachment is an emotional desire to own, possess or control something or someone. A most common attachment are the ones we place upon our Loved Ones.
"Sure, I am attached to my daughter or son," you say. "This is normal," you insist, " I certainly wouldn't want to be detached from them because I love them."
What if I were to tell you that you can be detached from wanting to own them, to control them, or to possess them as if they were property and still love them?
When you love someone and you desire to control them or to fix them in some way to make them better, what you are doing is expressing selfish love.
Selfish love is not True Love. Selfish love is a conditional form of love where you are dissatisfied with someone until they do something your way. It is selfish because you only love them some of the time when they please you.
True Love is when you accept someone just they way they are with out any conditions.
True Love is loving someone without attaching any sort of desire upon them.
When you provide True Love to someone, you provide them the opportunity to be their True Self. They feel relaxed around you because they are not afraid of being who they really are because you will not judge them. They will appreciate you more and more and they will return you True Love with True Love from them. Suddenly you will feel more happy and relaxed because you are receiving more and more True Love which is quite freeing!
Do you see how everyone becomes Happy when you decide to Love without attachments? Would you like practical advice on how to release your attachments so that you can begin to provide True Love?
Follow this advice to begin to release your attachment to your Loved Ones.
First, be observant of your emotions and desires when you are interacting with Loved Ones. Are you trying to tell them what to do? Are you feeling agitated because they are not doing or saying things your way?
Second, when you discover yourself being attached, say to yourself mentally, " I release this attachment now and replace it with acceptance."
Third, repeat steps one and two over and over.
Four, enjoy the freedom that non-attachment offers and the new-found happiness for yourself and your Loved Ones!
I wish you True Love and True Happiness.
