Remember the Simple Things
Those who are on a spiritual path may, after a while, accrue so much information about how to proceed along their path that they become exhausted by all the options. Many times the whole purpose of the spiritual journey may become lost.
I am here today to help you to refocus upon what is truly important, of what is Divine Will. Here are simple things to remember to help refocus.
Harm No One
The first simple thing that I need to discuss is that we are all Children of the Creator. Whether we are an Archangel or a human or a sea otter, we were made by Creator, from the Creator and for the Creator. With this basic fact, we now have a basis for the understanding that no matter what we do in life, we strive to harm no one.
Harming No One means that we refrain from words, thoughts, actions and non-actions that can hurt another. Especially vulnerable to harm are children. Harming children through words can affect their entire life. Many are walking on Earth wounded from harsh words told to them during early childhood.
Equally damaging is inaction. A favorite harming weapon is not doing something. For example not acknowledging someone who is in your presence while at the same time acknowledging other can be harmful.
The best way to avoid harming others is to ask yourself (before taking action or inaction) if you would wish to be treated in such away. If you cannot say yes to this questions then it is best to refrain form the action or non-action.
Honor the Creator Above All Others
What does Honor the Creator Above All Others mean? Quite simply, don't worship something more than the Creator. If you know, for example that the Creator would wish us all to not harm each other and we proceed to harm others in the pursuit of increased profits for business, then we are worshipping profits above the Creator. Worship is defined as honoring the Creator.
The simplest method to avoid this is to ask yourself during a quiet moment if major decisions in your life are for the highest good of all. If the answer that you receive is no, then re-examine your motives for the decision. Are you worshipping your desires above that of Creator?
Next Honor Yourself
Honor yourself means that the spiritual goal is to recognize that you are a child of the Creator and that you are Loved beyond measure.
Too many on Earth hate themselves. I ask that you forgive yourselves for not being perfect and to accept you as you are. This fundamental Honoring of self by first forgiving and accepting allows for healing to begin within.
The simplest method to Honor, love and accept self is to start the day by looking into the mirror and saying to the reflection of self, "I love you. I honor your Divine Purpose on Earth. I accept you just the way that you are, and I forgive you all your faults."
Next Honor Your Family
Once you honor, love and accept yourself then you will find it much easier to do the same.
This simplest method for honoring your Family is to visualize every member of your family and mentally tell them that you love them , honor them, accept them, forgive them and bless them. Next, ask them to forgive you for any hate, resentment or bitterness that you might be holding.
Next Honor Your Neighbors
By the term neighbors, I mean all whom cross your path as well as those who live near you.
The simplest method to honor your neighbors is to make this intention every morning, "I intend to honor, love and accept all those who cross my path while still holding healthy boundaries."
The last part regarding boundaries is needed because although you may wish to honor all who cross your path, you may occasionally cross paths with other who may knowingly or unknowingly want something that will violate your boundaries.
You can still honor, love and accept others crossing your path and still say no to things that are causing your to dishonor yourself.
Forgiving all is the most simplest concept. However it is the hardest for many to grasp at the heart level because of all the pain that can be endured that are inflicted by others.
What can help is the Higher understanding that those who inflict damage are those who themselves are damaged.
The simplest way to forgive others is to mentally forgive them with this Intention, "I forgive you who has hurt me. I understand that you, yourself, are injured."
Many are concerned that forgiving one who has recently performed hurtful things will result in becoming hurt again. What is need is the understanding that forgiving someone is the releasing of hate towards the other not a permission for the other to continue hurting. One can still forgive and still have healthy boundaries in place to prevent further hurt.
Healthy boundaries, however, require the courage to leave a person who is continuously hurting who and does not honor your boundaries. To refuse to forgive because one does not have the courage to leave a person is a trap that invites suffering.
Ask For Help
What I have just discussed are the basics - the foundation - for a healthy spiritual life that can be worked on each day moment by moment.
If you find this path difficult, help from the Creator is a prayer away. Ask the Creator for help to overcome your difficulties and you shall receive.
