5/29/17 - Message from Jesus
I am Jesus and I am communicating to you about clinging to the past and how this produces within you unhappiness.
Many of us like to spend our days remembering past events or departed loved ones and many of us who reminisce in this manner soon find ourselves depressed and filled with regret. We may feel regret for not having said certain things to those who have departed. Or, we may have regret for not making certain decisions. Soon this regret and depression permeates us and when we interact with others and our close friends and family, we tend to spread this gloom to all we meet.
I ask you this - Is this spreading of gloom fair to the others whom are important in your life? Do you see how when you put yourself into this mood through the process of living in past that you contaminate the present of all those around you? Do you really wish to place this onto others? Would you like to be in the receiving end of such doom and gloom?
I think that the answer that most of us would come to as reasonable is that it is not fair to others and that receiving such gloom from others is a very uncomfortable and painful experience.
I say to you to STOP such activities. Stop living in the past. Stop spreading regret and depression to others. Stop infecting others with what is anti-joy.
I offer to you a simple method to break yourself of this habit: Focus on what is immediately in front of you that you can touch, hear, or smell. When you find yourself slipping into thinking about the past, stop and then breath in a nice full breath and then exhale it.
Next, find something in your environment that you can focus on that gives you joy. If you have a flower in your environment then go to that flower and look at it. Then smell the flower. Then feel the softness of the flower's petal. Keep doing this for two or three minutes. Feel gratitude for the flower. If you don't feel gratitude then simply say in your mind, "I am grateful for the beauty of this flower."
If you have nothing joyous in your immediate surroundings, then go change your surroundings. Go outside if your are inside and then find a bird to listen to or a squirrel to watch or a tree to sit under. Use your other senses for a few moments while expressing or feeling gratitude.
Afterwards, put away any mementos that may have triggered the living in the past. Be it a photo or an item of a loved one. Store these things away and know that they are in Heaven and have no need for such things.
Then, simply go about your day feeling or expressing the gratitude that you had when you were focusing on a joyous thing.
Your family, friends and loved ones will thank you for this.
